Teaching

I see teaching as creating spaces where students can think critically, work together, and connect ideas to real-world challenges. My classes draw on my background in environmental humanities, Indigenous studies, and ethnic relations, as well as years of teaching in culturally diverse settings.

In my teaching, I combine perspectives from the social sciences, humanities, and environmental studies, with a focus on centering marginalized voices. I aim to use a variety of approaches, such as open discussion, storytelling, creative projects, and experiential learning, so students can engage with topics in ways that feel meaningful to them.

I have taught students from many backgrounds, from Arctic-focused PhD researchers to Roma students preparing for Master’s studies. My goal is always the same: to support them in becoming critical, compassionate, and creative thinkers, ready to address the complex challenges of the North and the wider world.
